Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray has reacted to a video of actress Dia Mirza celebrating Diwali with fireworks, expressing his disapproval of the act.
Shiv Sena MP Aaditya Thackeray has weighed in on the ongoing debate regarding environmental conservation during festivals. The politician took to social media to comment on a video featuring Bollywood actress Dia Mirza celebrating Diwali.
In the viral clip, the actress is seen enjoying the festival with traditional fireworks. Thackeray's response was pointed, as he used the platform to highlight the negative impact of firecrackers on air quality and public health in urban areas.
The leader's remarks align with the broader political discourse in Maharashtra, where environmental policies and festival regulations are frequently discussed. While the actress's celebration was intended to showcase traditional festivities, it drew criticism from political figures who advocate for a 'silent Diwali' to protect the environment.
This incident adds to the recurring annual debate in India about the balance between cultural traditions and environmental responsibility, with political leaders often using such viral moments to push for stricter regulations on firecracker usage.
