Ganesh Patel, a 65‑year‑old resident of Chhatarpur, pledged three acres of his land for a new temple after a night‑time dream, submitting his request at a public hearing the next day.
Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh – On Tuesday, 65‑year‑old Ganesh Patel announced his intention to donate three acres of privately owned land for the construction of a Hindu temple. Patel said the decision was inspired by a vivid dream he experienced the previous night, which he interpreted as a divine call to support the community’s religious project.
The following morning, Patel attended a local public hearing (jan sunvai) convened by district officials to present his application formally. He handed over a written request to the officials, expressing his willingness to transfer the land free of cost and requesting the authorities’ assistance in processing the donation.
Local authorities acknowledged the offer and indicated that the land would be examined for suitability before any formal allocation. They also assured Patel that the donation would be recorded in official land records and that the temple project would proceed in accordance with applicable regulations.
Community members present at the hearing welcomed the gesture, noting that the additional land could significantly expand the planned temple complex and provide space for ancillary facilities such as a community hall and parking.
The district administration has not yet set a timeline for the final approval, but officials said they will keep the public informed as the process moves forward.
