Sixty‑five resident welfare associations in Mohali have jointly appealed to the Municipal Corporation and GMADA for immediate improvements in the city’s sanitation system.
A coalition of sixty‑five Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in Mohali has formally approached the city’s Municipal Corporation and the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) to address persistent sanitation problems. The RWAs highlighted issues such as irregular garbage collection, overflowing bins, and inadequate street cleaning that affect daily life for residents.
The associations submitted a collective petition outlining specific shortcomings and requesting a concrete action plan, including more frequent waste collection, better maintenance of public bins, and increased monitoring of cleanliness standards. They urged the authorities to allocate additional resources and to set up a monitoring mechanism to ensure compliance.
Municipal officials have acknowledged receipt of the petition and indicated that they will review the concerns in an upcoming meeting. GMADA representatives are also expected to discuss the matter with the RWAs to explore coordinated solutions for the broader Mohali region.
