Around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, local residents reported that Shyama Devi, a 60‑year‑old woman, was pulled under the flood‑laden currents of the Ganga while bathing near the Tyagi Baba Thakurbadi shrine in the Maranchi police‑station area of Bihar's flood‑prone sub‑division.
Search teams, including police and volunteers, combed the riverbank and surrounding fields from morning until evening, but no trace of the woman was found. Her family members, who arrived at the site shortly after the incident, expressed deep anguish and have been pleading for assistance.
