A shallow 3.2‑magnitude tremor struck Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir, with shaking reported in several districts across the valley.

A minor earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale occurred in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir early today. The tremor, recorded at a shallow depth, was strong enough to be felt in neighboring districts, prompting residents to report shaking in homes and public buildings.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the event and noted that no immediate damage or casualties were reported. Local authorities have begun routine checks of infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, to ensure safety.

While the magnitude was low, officials reminded the public that the seismically active Himalayan region remains vulnerable to larger quakes. Residents are advised to stay alert, follow safety guidelines, and report any unusual activity to the authorities.

The IMD will continue to monitor aftershocks and provide updates as necessary. No evacuation orders have been issued, and normal life in Pulwama and surrounding areas is expected to resume shortly.
