31 researchers from the University of Hyderabad have been named among the world’s top 2 percent scientists by the Stanford-Elsevier ranking, a recognition that highlights the institution’s research excellence.

31 researchers from the University of Hyderabad (UoH) have been listed among the world’s top 2 percent of scientists by the Stanford-Elsevier ranking released this week.

The list, which is updated annually, draws on citation data from the Web of Science database to identify the most influential researchers across all disciplines.

The ranking uses a combination of metrics, including the h‑index, total citations and the number of papers published in high‑impact journals, to assess a scientist’s impact on the global research community. UoH’s 31 scholars, spanning fields such as physics, biology, chemistry and engineering, have met the stringent criteria that place them in the upper echelon of the scientific community.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for UoH and Indian science. It underscores the university’s growing reputation for high‑quality research and its ability to attract and nurture talent that competes on an international stage. The recognition also reflects the broader trend of Indian researchers gaining prominence in global citation rankings.

Looking ahead, UoH officials hope that the visibility gained from this ranking will help secure additional funding, foster international collaborations and inspire the next generation of scientists to pursue research excellence.
