An IIT graduate in Rajasthan has quit a high‑earning engineering role to pursue a life of spiritual renunciation, citing a desire for simplicity and detachment.
A 24‑year‑old IIT graduate from Rajasthan has decided to abandon a lucrative engineering position that paid approximately 18 lakh rupees annually in order to pursue a path of spiritual renunciation. The young engineer, whose name has not been disclosed, had secured a role in a leading technology firm after completing his postgraduate studies.
According to reports, the job offered a competitive salary, opportunities for growth, and a chance to work on cutting‑edge projects. However, the engineer expressed that the material rewards were no longer sufficient to satisfy his inner aspirations.
In a statement to local media, he said he felt a growing pull towards a simpler, more contemplative life. He described the decision as a step towards detachment from worldly attachments and a desire to explore deeper spiritual truths.
The move has drawn attention to a growing trend among young professionals in India who are re-evaluating career paths in favor of spiritual or minimalist lifestyles. While the story is unique, it echoes similar choices made by other young Indians seeking meaning beyond conventional success metrics.
