A three‑week defence course covering Army, Navy and Air Force operations concluded in Tezpur, Assam, with 24 journalists graduating.

A three‑week defence training programme wrapped up in Tezpur, Assam, graduating a batch of 24 journalists. The course, run by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, aimed to give media professionals a practical understanding of military operations and protocols.

Participants attended classroom sessions on strategic concepts, followed by field visits to army bases, naval docks and air force stations. Hands‑on drills included basic weapon safety, map reading, and simulated operational briefings, allowing journalists to observe the armed forces’ day‑to‑day functioning.

The training is part of a broader effort to improve defence reporting accuracy and foster informed public discourse on security matters. Graduates are expected to apply the knowledge gained to produce more nuanced coverage of defence issues across print and digital platforms.

Organisers noted that the programme will be repeated in other regions to broaden the pool of journalists equipped with first‑hand defence insights.
