A 17‑year‑old who hired an Audi for ₹16,000 in Delhi collided with three cars, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
Delhi police reported that a 17‑year‑old male rented a luxury Audi at a cost of roughly ₹16,000 and was driving it on a city road when he lost control. The vehicle struck three other automobiles in quick succession, creating a chaotic scene on the busy thoroughfare.
Witnesses said the Audi veered into the first car, rebounded, and then hit two more vehicles before careening onto the sidewalk. A pedestrian standing nearby was struck and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services arrived promptly, and the injured drivers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The driver of the Audi was detained for questioning, and investigators are examining whether the rental agency complied with legal age requirements and whether the teen was driving without a valid licence.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation into possible violations of traffic and rental regulations, and the case is being treated as a criminal matter pending the outcome of the inquiry.
