163 Indian Nationals Rescued from Nepal Floods as Tunnel Rescue Operations Continue

The floods that have swept across Nepal have claimed more than 1,050 lives, according to official figures. Amid the devastation, 163 Indian nationals were rescued from the hydropower tunnels in Chilime, a town in the eastern part of the country. The rescue operation is being carried out by a 24‑member Indian tunnel rescue team, which has been deployed under difficult conditions, including waterlogged tunnels and unstable rock faces. The Indian Ministry has highlighted the challenges faced by the team, noting that the rescue continues as the situation remains fluid. The team remains on standby, ready to respond to any further emergencies as the floodwaters recede.
