14-Year-Old Dies from Electric Shock While Decorating Krishna Janmashtami Fair in Nalanda

A 14‑year‑old boy, Sujit Kumar, was electrocuted while setting up decorations at a Krishna Janmashtami fair near Mahadev Sthan in Ekangarsarai, Nalanda, and died on site, causing a five‑hour traffic jam.
Nalanda district’s Ekangarsarai police‑station area witnessed a tragic accident on the day of the Krishna Janmashtami fair. While installing decorative lights and other ornaments near Mahadev Sthan, 14‑year‑old Sujit Kumar came into contact with an exposed electric current. The shock proved fatal, and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local authorities cordoned off the fairground to investigate the cause of the electrocution and to ensure safety for the remaining attendees. Emergency services arrived promptly, but the severity of the injury left no chance of revival.
The incident caused a sudden surge of vehicles on the nearby road, leading to a traffic jam that lasted for about five hours as police redirected traffic and cleared the area. Residents were advised to use alternate routes until normal flow resumed.
Police have launched a preliminary inquiry to determine whether faulty wiring or inadequate safety measures contributed to the tragedy. The investigation will also look into compliance with electrical safety norms for temporary structures at public events.
