The Horticulture Ministry reports that 13,202 metric tonnes of apples have been bought so far this season, aiming to stabilise farm prices.

New Delhi – The Union Horticulture Minister announced that 13,202 metric tonnes of apples have been procured to date for the current marketing season. The figure reflects the government's ongoing purchase program aimed at ensuring a stable market for fruit growers.

The procurement is being carried out under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework, which guarantees a floor price for apples harvested across major producing states. By buying directly from farmers, the ministry seeks to prevent price volatility and reduce post‑harvest losses.

Officials said the buying process will continue until the season concludes, with additional quantities expected as more produce becomes available. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the horticulture sector and improve farm incomes.
