The State Election Commission of Tripura has confirmed that 10,889 nominations submitted for the upcoming village committee polls meet all eligibility criteria.
Tripura's State Election Commission announced that a total of 10,889 nomination papers for the scheduled village committee elections have been declared valid after thorough scrutiny. The verification process, conducted over the past few days, examined each application against the statutory requirements governing local self‑government bodies.
The commission said that all accepted nominations complied with age, residency, and criminal background checks, as well as the required documentation such as voter ID and property proof. Candidates who failed to meet any of these criteria were excluded from the final list.
With the validated list now public, the election schedule will move forward, allowing voters in the state's rural panchayats to cast their ballots in the upcoming polls. Officials expect the elections to strengthen grassroots democracy and improve service delivery at the village level.
